Somewhere in one of my many middle of the night wake ups, the Lord gave me the verse, "A gentle answer turns away anger (Ps 15:1)." Immediately I knew it regarded Gideon and my reactions to his many testing gestures and truth be told it works, really and truly. When I feel myself getting pretty hot under the collar (putting it nicely) I say the verse in my mind and it really diffuses my response to him. Now if I could just memorize more scripture I can only imagine the power it would have in my life!

Mmm. Good girl. I blew it (literally) on several occasions when my now-adult daughters were very young. How I wish I could go back and change some things. If I had been greater and deeper in God's Word, I know I (emphasis there!) would have been changed, and would today have fewer regrets.
ReplyDeleteStay in that Word, Mommy.
Thank you for showing me this verse. As the end of the summer is approaching. I needed this reminder.

Thank you for reminding me of this scripture!!! I can think of so many times just with my husband and kids that I could have answered gently.....I will do better!!
ReplyDeleteThe Lord will do that for me sometimes, too. I always imagine it's His way of "speaking" to me... by placing Word directly in my mind and on my heart. Just know that this stage will pass. (Hopefully quickly) and that Gideon and Boaz have so many years of playing together and being best buddies in their future. Hang in there!
ReplyDeletethank you for this. it's the kind of thing i'd like to have hanging in every room of the house - just as a {gentle} reminder. ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this. After 8 years at home with my children I'm finally sending my youngest to kindergarten. Oh how I've been over this verse so many times. What a wonderful reminder of Hebrews 4:12 and how powerful His word is when we hide it in our hearts.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this verse My twin 2 yearold have been testing me a lot this summer... I will try to take this verse to heart!
ReplyDeleteYour new little is so beautiful
I couldn't agree more, sweetheart, and I will plan my words to be gentle towards you as well... Someone told me once - love is kind - ok it was more than once
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this scripture. God works through everyting and brings you messages from every source, including your blog! :) I needed this as my husband and I had argued last night and it is nice to try and be reminded of how it can greatly change one's approach if just to simply answer gently.
