A gentle answer

Somewhere in one of my many middle of the night wake ups, the Lord gave me the verse, "A gentle answer turns away anger (Ps 15:1)." Immediately I knew it regarded Gideon and my reactions to his many testing gestures and truth be told it works, really and truly. When I feel myself getting pretty hot under the collar (putting it nicely) I say the verse in my mind and it really diffuses my response to him. Now if I could just memorize more scripture I can only imagine the power it would have in my life!

  1. Mmm. Good girl. I blew it (literally) on several occasions when my now-adult daughters were very young. How I wish I could go back and change some things. If I had been greater and deeper in God's Word, I know I (emphasis there!) would have been changed, and would today have fewer regrets.

    Stay in that Word, Mommy.

  4. The Lord will do that for me sometimes, too. I always imagine it's His way of "speaking" to me... by placing Word directly in my mind and on my heart. Just know that this stage will pass. (Hopefully quickly) and that Gideon and Boaz have so many years of playing together and being best buddies in their future. Hang in there!

  6. Thanks for sharing this. After 8 years at home with my children I'm finally sending my youngest to kindergarten. Oh how I've been over this verse so many times. What a wonderful reminder of Hebrews 4:12 and how powerful His word is when we hide it in our hearts.

  9. Thank you for sharing this scripture. God works through everyting and brings you messages from every source, including your blog! :) I needed this as my husband and I had argued last night and it is nice to try and be reminded of how it can greatly change one's approach if just to simply answer gently.
