Who's Rv'd before?

image via

2012 is gonna be a year of firsts, I hope. So to kick that off I'm thinking a Rv trip to NY to see my Mom and attend my cousin's wedding is in order. I have been Rv'ing a few times before as a kid and its with fond memories minus the time my dad backed that thing into a rock and broke off the step!
With two very hyperactive boys who have a undying love of the outdoors, an Rv might be the perfect solution. Thoughts, opinions, advice? Go.

I've never really been but have always wanted an RV. When I was little I asked my parents to sell our house and buy one. Now I just want a creative space that can travel too.

I wish our camper was as cute as the one in the picture. We're planning on hitting the OBX in March. Rent one and come with us!

Here is an actual tip for RV'ing with kids. If you aren't staying at a state or national park stay at a KOA. They are always clean and family oriented. They usually have playgrounds, bounce pads, putt putt, and a pool. They also have kareoke nights and different events during the summer. We stayed at one that even had a little golf cart train to take you and the kids to and from the beach. On the flip side, if you're not at a park or KOA some Rv parks are sleezy and creepy.

If RVing looks like this than I want to all summer long!

Seriously, though. I think it is a great idea.

Does LIVING in an RV count? My Hubs and I did in fact live in an RV for over a year. We paid off ALL of our student loans and all debt. It was crazy, scary and turned out to be the BEST experience of my life thus far. I miss Dutchie (our Dutchman RV). We had the best of times in that guy.
(My blog post about Dutchie: http://thebowtieandtheskirt.blogspot.com/2011/01/sympathy-need-not-apply.html)

And yes, RV'ing is SO fun! I definitely want one when we have children!

Don't remember how I actually found you blog (but I like it!), but as someone who has traveled in an RV for the last 7+ years - I say DO IT! We never did any RVing when our kids were young, so I can't state how it would work with little ones, but I do know our young grands love coming with us! We thought we'd only be on the road for a year - and that was in August 2004. I can't think of a better way to really enjoy the country and your kids. Happy planning! :)
