The secret to marriage

My husband and I are currently listening to a series called Love & Respect and its been a game-changer for us. He shares about how women just need to be/feel loved and men need respect and if neither needs are met a vicious cycle ensues.
Its been 8 years of marriage and I finally just learned the secret to not just a mediocre marriage, but a great one. Do you want to know too?
Everything you say or do unto your spouse you do unto Him. So when your in the middle of a spat and tempted to stonewall or say things in anger, remember you do it unto Him. I thought, really? But yes its true if we do everything for the glory of God and to please Him then it makes perfect sense that how we treat our spouse matters to God. This was heavy and convicting for me friends to say the least.
Here's to going deeper in our marriages and remembering whatever we do, we do unto Him.
Bring on the life change.

  1. I love that series! It's so true and so helpful. We listen to the CDs at least once a year for as a refresher. It has been a huge help for me to do my part in our relationship! Good work promoting it to your readers, I hope they'll read it too.

  2. That really is a life changing series. My husband and I both had Ah Ha Moments every week. Love it...thanks for sharing!

  3. Oh, so good! The couple who wrote the book/series attend our church so we are blessed to hear them speak every once and awhile. Completely life changing!

  4. I am amazed to see how wonderful my Lord is to me. I was just thinking about marriage, love, and respect last night and I came to your blog and found my answer. Thank you for sharing.

  5. Great advice! Love the positive message of your blog!

  6. I heard wonderful things about that series, And hope our church offers it as a study again.

  7. This is wonderful advice, I know that sometimes in the heat of an argument I say things that I don't mean and I know that it affects him and he takes them to heart so this has really made me think about that. Thanks =].

  8. My husband and I our reading this at the moment as well. It's fabulous but also difficult to read.

  9. Such a great series. Really brings things into perspective.

  10. It's been a number of years, but we've worked through this book and seminar series, as well. So good.

Respect isn't earned ... it can be a choice. We choose to give it.

With husbands, that is a game changer, indeed. Love it when the life change comes on!

  11. My young families group at church is starting this next week. I am really looking forward to the series.

Glad you and your husband are taking the time for each other to go through this.

As a new mom, I know how busy you must be !

Love your blog and wish we were still in VA so I could hire you for your amazing photography.

Blessings to you and your family.
