Today is Good Friday, the day as my husband puts it, "Love is defined" and Jesus pays it all.
Good Friday is the ultimate paradox because to me the only thing "good" about it is Easter Sunday but one can't exist without the other.
There's a song called "Wonderful cross" based off the old hymn by Issac Watts (I love old hymns, so poetic and rich) which says,
"See from his head, his hands, his feet
sorrow and love flow mingled down
did ever such love and sorrow meet
or thorns compose so rich a crown?"
And that's the wonder of the cross....where sorrow and love meet, beauty and shame, gain and loss. So on this Good Friday, I'm mournful, but hidden away in my heart is the expectation and joy of Easter Sunday around the corner.
"Would you dare, would you dare to believe that you still got a reason to sing?
Cause the pain that you've been feeling can't compare to the joy that's coming!"
Josh Wilson-"Before the morning"
I hope everyone has a lovely, joy-filled Easter Weekend!
Such a beautiful post! Happy Easter Dear.
