Slumdog Millionaire

This girl is so adorable, I can barely handle it.

She is stunning.

I've been chomping at the bit to see this critically acclaimed movie prior to my trip to India on Thursday. Well, it certainly gave me a glimpse of India, unfortunately at its worst. It must be the relatively new mother in me....but I could barely stomach seeing these precious orphaned children endure the amount of hardship and strife no one should ever encounter in a lifetime. Although truth be told, millions of children do every day all the time, we are the vast minority.

Before previewing the film, I read review upon review of what a "feel good" film it is....I assure you the feel good part did not occur until the last 10 minutes. It was cinematically impressive and a well written story certainly exposing the harsh reality most of the world faces daily. Its impossible for me to watch something like this and walk away unaffected, I was haunted all night! Despite my tender heart and weak stomach....(I actually hid behind the door and annoyingly asked my husband for the play by play due to my nausea during a scene) I intentionally seek films that reveal truth despite how hard it may be too swallow. This boy's story essentially echoes the resounding heartbreak felt by millions all over the world. So yes it was riveting, compelling, even driven by love, but also heartwrenching, nauseating, and unforgettable.
