Family friendly Dallas weekend

 Slow-living in Texas is one of its greatest perks. But we sped it up for a weekend in Dallas with my boys and boy did Dallas impress! Our picks for a weekend in Dallas with kids!

Deep Ellum

King of cool vibes town could be the title of Deep Ellum. A downtown district of food, shops, bars, and concert venues. We happen to hit it up on a sweltering hot day so walking around outside was limited, but give yourself a good day to stroll the streets of Deep Ellum. Food from all over the world here, even my beloved Pho at Pho Bowl finished off with rolled ice cream from Chills 360. Our original intention was texas bbq at Pecan Lodge but the line was wrapped around the door, always a good sign. Also, don't forget to grab a token selfie on one of their many colored walls!

Stay Alfred on Jackson Street

This place. The price of a cheaper hotel but 2 bedroom apartment full, kitchen, laundry plus swanky rooftop pool smack dab in the middle of Dallas. The pool area had oversized jenga and corn hole games for the littles, super kid-friendly. Plus the location was super close to the Perot Science Museum, next on our itinerary. Truly I can't express enough how relaxing it was to recline in the pool while my laundry was spinning! We travel light, always. So doing laundry is a huge find for this family! Stay Alfred on Jackson Street, you were a dream.

Perot Science Museum

A kid-friendly museum in the thick of Texas heat is always a good idea. The Perot Science museum was incredible, creative, hands-on, and innovative! The robotics area was a huge hit with my boys, but I was swooning in the gems and geodes area, jaw-dropping beauty. Give yourself a good day here, your kids will thank you.

Bishop Arts District

The Bishop arts district kept popping up in my "things to do in Dallas" search and once I saw pics of this historical district it was hook line and sinker. Bishop Arts District is Deep Ellum's older sister with kids! She's more mild, reserved, and family friendly. The district started as Dallas's busiest trolley stop in the 1930's and since has been revitalized with trendy boutiques, foodie restaurants, and yes art galleries. The heat impacted our time outside, but we found relief at Eno's Pizza tavern so no worries, bonus it was gluten free!

Dallas Farmers Market

The Dallas farmers market was almost walking distance from our hotel, so it was a no-brainer. Not a traditional outdoor farmers market but a well-delvoped food court if you will with gourmet food options from all over the world. I liked it. I liked it alot. Open 7 days a week!
