My faith tends to falter between larger than life and itty bitty. I truly am an all or nothing type with most things, just ask hubby! It was revolutionary for me to realize that faith is a gift and it comes more naturally for some than others. I love love love the scene in Indiana Jones and the Holy Grail where he tosses sand over the invisible bridge revealing its existing. See that's just it.... the bridge was always there plain as day, just not visible. But faith wouldn't be faith now would it if we could see?! For those who can relate, mustard seeds could be your new best friend!
In India they use mustard seeds in everything and although small, pack a powerful punch. Here's where I could go on with all the idioms on small things like, "good things come in small packages" and so forth, but I'll spare you. I couldn't help but recall Matthew's, "If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, MOVE from here to there and it will move."( 17:20) Then in preparation for my Indian soiree, I was preparing a tomato chutney, which called for mustard seeds (delish) again calling to mind the verse! Thirdly, today while shopping for an ever elusive cream colored cardigan at Uniqlo the theme song for that verse came overhead, yes in Uniqlo (pictured below!)
Not a christian contemporary tune, but a praise and worship type that you rarely catch on the radio let alone a retail store in Okinawa Japan!!!! In which Gideon proceeded to demonstrate his best dance moves accompanied with an occasional handstand thrown in for good measure, needless to say we drew a crowd.
Its "Mighty to Save" here's some of the lyrics:
"Savior He can move the mountains, my God is mighty to save He is mighty save. Forever, author of Salvation, He rose and conquered the grave, Jesus conquered the grave"
Here's to mountain movin faith!
